Spring Essentials: Weekend Uniform

I never wear sweatpants in public, but I do wear 15-year-old gap yoga pants to the corner for a bagel.

Last week, I pulled on the old yoga pants and the rivet holding the drawstring fell to the floor.  Oops.  Then I pulled the string to tie the pant and the drawstring broke off in my hand.

Two weeks ago, I pulled on my favorite boyfriend jeans, bent over to tie my shoe, felt the fabric pull across my thighs, and heard the rip.  Guess the longest winter ever has really taken a toll if the loosest pair of jeans I own rip when I bend over.

While I love fashion, I really don’t shop.  The Husband is always pushing me to “just buy it already” – but I am confident that his strategy to keep me from talking about shopping so much.

So, as we enter into spring, I am going to share what I am buying and why.  Maybe you will be inspired for a little refresh – before you rip the seat out of your pants as you are rushing out the door.

First, I need new t-shirts.  And I while I am not a graphic tee kind of girl, I do love the latest trend of location logo tees.

I bought this linen Paris tee last year and it is threadbare. The Husband was kind enough to buy me this Textile Brooklyn tee, but I think I might need one more.  Here are a few options.

After the longest winter ever, the last thing I want to do is shop for jeans. I am so bored of wearing jeans, but the weather is not cooperating to wear skirts and I want something a little more casual.  Enter chambray pants!

I will be the first to say that chambray pants aren’t especially sexy, but they are functional.  And who are you trying to impress as you run to the store to buy whatever you forgot for dinner?

Functionality is the key here – and I guarantee by the end of summer, chambray pants will be all the rage – you heard it here first.

And what goes better with a tee and jeans than a crisp pair of white kicks?  Check out my round-up of favorite white tennis shoes here!

Finally, as we talked about in the five rules of style, you should always wear something that makes you really happy. And turquoise always makes me happy!

I own this ring by Rejoice the Hands (a favorite source of handmade Native American inspired jewelry).  One turquoise piece feels a little lonely – and considering I have blank canvas of a tee and jeans – I am going to stock up on turquoise accessories this season.

So, there is one outfit…that will likely be worn multiple times a week.
