For my birthday this year, my best friend bought me a necklace. It was a large gold key stamped with the word “grateful.” I adore this necklace and rarely take it off.
The Giving Keys is based in Los Angeles and employs people transitioning out of homelessness to create simple, but inspiring jewelry.
One day last month, I was going down the instagram rabbit hole and stumbled onto Sackcloth & Ashes. Sackcloth & Ashes sells beautiful blankets and when you purchase one, they donate a fleece blanket to your local homeless shelter.
I have been stalking the website, trying to decide which blanket I need. Maybe the dark blue version above or maybe the teal version below.
Then, last week while scrolling through instagram (again – I know I have issues), I saw a wonderful collaboration between Sackcloth & Ashes and The Giving Keys.
For each blanket sold in the collaboration, Sackcloth & Ashes will donate a blanket to the LA Rescue Mission.
This time of year is about reflection and being thankful. Strangely, it is also the time of year, where I struggle to not buy myself a gift every time I buy one for someone else. With these two brands, you can buy yourself a little something and you are still giving to someone else. And that’s something we can all get behind.
