Happy Hour Countdown

I wasn’t kidding when I said I was raised at the lake.  In this pic, Pop and I are at the island and sharing a secret – which we have continued to do 30+ years later.  I should also tell you that those “jams” he is wearing are actually cut-off bell bottoms.  He wore those cutoffs for over 20 years and that is a modest estimate.

As we are all melting this week, I thought I would share with you what I have been thinking about and reading this week!  Give you a little something to do until you can escape this heat with a nice Old Man Coors.

– Do you know the real story about Native American Jim Thorpe?  He dominated the 1912 Olympics, so why was he stripped of his medals?  My friend, Beau Adams, reports on the many myths and digs for the truth in this story, Everybody”s All American. Outstanding article.

– My crazy friends bought a brownstone!  I am jealous of their full basement (good to store Christmas decorations and tools), stoop (better to sit and watch the world go by), and garden (best to hide out and play in the grass)!  She started a blog to document their journey.  She mentioned “This Old House” when they moved in and started to remodel.  I am thinking more  “Top 10 Best Places to Live.”  Check out her blog here!– Check out The Coveteur’s coverage of Carrie Bradshaw’s wardrobe – complete with quotes from the show.

– Last week, I told you about one of my New Year’s Resolutions.  I am still struggling with a couple more…which I will share with you soon.  In the meantime, I was really inspired by this article – What You Think About Me is None of My Business.  Especially like this idea – Be about your own business.

– Loving the never before published photos of Marilyn Monroe on Time Life blog – my favorite picture features Marilyn and Jane on the set of Gentlemen prefer blondes.  And I also love the series covering her in training – dancing, singing, and acting.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!  Stay cool, have a good laugh, and look around and say thanks for yet another great day.
