A Little NOLA in the BK: Preservation Hall Tribute Album

Preservation Hall by Kenny and Steve via Creative Commons

Minor panic attack this morning when I tried to stream WWOZ New Orleans.  Apparently they are moving offices today, so no Internet stream.  Ugh.  Determined to have my jazz while working, I headed over to iTunes and started spending some money on the great jazz that WWOZ has shared with me.

First purchase? The Preservation Hall Tribute Album.  Right now, I am blaring track 19, “La Vie en Rose”…sigh…

Preservation Hall was founded in 1961 to protect traditional New Orleans Jazz.  The Tribute Album is extremely diverse with appearances from Louis Armstrong to Ani De Franco.

I definitely miss my WWOZ today, but this album will definitely tide me over until tomorrow when I can get a fix.  You should check it out.
